CHATSWOOD - EPPING RAIL LINK, NSW
Claude Neon has successfully completed one of its biggest projects in its 90 year existence after designing and installing all signage for the recently opened Chatswood to Epping Rail Link.
The project required Claude Neon to develop and install over 2000 signs, incorporating everything from simple door signage, brail signage for the visionary impaired and complex scrolling directional signage. Scrolling signs are synchronised with escalators providing optimum wayfinding solutions for the changing dynamics of the CityRail network.
Claude Neon Project Director Rob Fugle commented that the project demonstrated Claude Neon’s ability to provide a wide variety of signage solutions at a mass scale saying that "... the expertise, knowledge and work ethic of the team allowed us to streamline the process, roll out this large scale project and successfully meet the tight deadlines for each stage of the job".
Considerable after hours and night time work was required by the team, who worked closely with other contractors and juggled work on pre existing fully functional stations.
Perhaps the most amusing aspect of the project was the fact installing the signs ten stories underground required the team to walk up and down hundreds of steps each day as there was no direct lift access to the station!
The 13km Chatswood to Epping Rail Link opened to the public and will for the first time provide direct access to the growing North Ryde/Macquarie Park area.
